Volunteers available to assist with income tax preparation and filing.

The 2014 tax filing season begins on January 31, and the City of St. Louis Treasurer’s Office would like low to moderate income residents to consider using volunteer income tax assistance when preparing and filing their tax returns.

“Last year, thousands of St. Louis residents took advantage of free volunteer income tax assistance,” said Treasurer Tishaura O. Jones. “Trained volunteers were able to assist with income tax preparation and filing which resulted in millions of dollars in tax refunds being returned to low and moderate income families in the St. Louis area.”

Information on volunteer income tax assistance can be found either by clicking here or by calling the United Way of Greater St. Louis 211 information line. Residents can find out more information on eligibility requirements, where the nearest volunteer tax preparation site is located, and obtain a list of documents needed to prepare and file their taxes.
