Parkmobile is Part of Effort to Modernize City’s Parking Operation

The City of St. Louis Treasurer’s Office is now offering a smartphone application to pay for parking meters. Parkmobile is currently being rolled out in downtown St. Louis and is expected to be up and running citywide by the end of this year.

Parkmobile was chosen to be the mobile payment provider for parking in St. Louis after a six month field test of various parking technologies. Parkmobile is available for iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Windows Phone and can be downloaded from your phone’s app store by searching for Parkmobile.

“Our goal is to create a modern, customer friendly parking operation for the City of St. Louis,” said Tishaura O. Jones, Treasurer of the City of St. Louis. “We are pleased that Parkmobile is part of our team as we work to move St. Louis parking into the 21st century.”

Parkmobile’s mobile payment system is very simple and easy to use. After setting up their account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone.

Enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using a wireless handheld device, so customers should not worry if the meter does not change. Mobile app users may also choose to receive alerts and reminders 15 minutes prior to expiration of their parking session. The two hour time limit on meters still applies, and Parkmobile will not allow users to purchase more time than allotted by the meters. Parking enforcement hours are Monday-Saturday from 8am to 7pm.
