Special Veteran Plates or Placards

Application for Veterans displaying special license plates or Bronze Star placards

Overview

A legal resident of the State of Missouri and Veteran of Service in the Armed Forces of the United States who has been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Purple Heart, the Silver Star or is a former Prisoner of War may apply for special vehicle license plates through the Missouri Department of Revenue.  Recipients of the Bronze Star may apply for a removable windshield placard.

Veterans correctly displaying one of these special vehicle license plates or placards may park free of charge at regular metered parking spots throughout the City of St. Louis, as determined by Section 304.725[www.moga.mo.gov] of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri.  This privilege shall not exempt a vehicle displaying one of these special plates or placards from all other State of Missouri or City of St. Louis parking regulations including, but not limited to, maximum time period allowances, no parking dates, handicapped only parking, street cleaning, snow emergencies and any restrictions posted on meters or street signage.

NOTE: At this time, Specialty license plates must be renewed by mail or at a Missouri license office. You must renew your personalized military license plate within 60 days of expiration to ensure the military personalized plates are held in your name.
